Justices to announce new Tenn. AG on Monday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee Supreme Court justices plan to announce their choice for the next state attorney general on Monday.

According to a news release issued Thursday, the announcement will take place at 11 a.m. in the courtroom at the Supreme Court Building in Nashville.

The announcement comes after a week in which the justices held a public hearing, as well as public and personal interviews with candidates for the position.

Incumbent AG Bob Cooper, a Democrat whose termed ended last month, is among the final six candidates, most of whom have Republican ties.

The other candidates are: Eugene N. Bulso, Jr., Brentwood; Mark A. Fulks, Johnson City; Sen. James Douglas Overbey, R-Maryville; Herbert H. Slatery III, Nashville; and William E. Young, Brentwood
