This week on Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair we spend some time with the legendary record producer and talent scout Joel Dorn. He is credited with first producing and/or discovering artists such as Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Roberta Flack, Aaron Neville, Bette Midler, Hubert Laws, the Allman Brothers and on and on. He was a principle producer in the golden age of Atlantic Records from the mid-1960s to the mid-70s. Upon leaving Atlantic he worked independently for a number of multi-genre record labels, even founding several of his own.
This Sunday's show was first heard in 1995 following the release of a Joel Dorn-produced Rahsaan Roland Kirk compilation on Warner Bros. titled, "Simmer, Reduce, Garnish and Serve". We'll hear 3 or 4 pieces from this collection including one selection that had not been previously released. Join us for colorful recollections from a fascinating individual in an hour that goes by far too quickly. If this program was a book, you couldn't put it down!
