MADD Tennessee Fears Losing Major Funding Source

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The Tennessee chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving says it’s on the verge of losing a major source of funding.

MADD says custom license plate sales are an important source of funding for the group. But to receive those dollars from the state at least 500 plates have to be sold.

MADD Tennessee’s Kate Ritchie says at this point the organization is about 60 plates short.

“The revenue we receive from these license plates brings in about $15,000 a year of funding for us. This funding goes directly to our Victim’s Services program. Victim’s Services provides much needed emotional support to victims of drunk driving.”

Drivers have until the end of this month to order MADD custom license plates. Ritchie notes that even if your current plates don’t expire in June you can still order custom plates.
