MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A 46 year-old McEwen man has been charged with statutory rape after he was arrested trying to enter the home of an Almaville girl.

According to detectives with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department, Harry John Leschen met the underage teen two months ago in an internet chat room. Officials say the two began a sexual relationship about two weeks ago.

Police say Leschen was meeting the girl in her Almaville home, initially while her parents were away, but more recently at night while the parents were asleep.

Detectives learned about the relationship and staked out the house, arresting Leschen as he entered the home.

In addition to the statutory rape charge, Leschen also faces charges of burglary and possession of a handgun.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail, then released on a $350,000 bond Wednesday. He’s scheduled to appear in court June 5.
