Maury Cnty deputy, 2 Sumner Cnty teens die in seperate overnight wrecks

SPRING HILL, TN (WSMV) – Sad to report that a Maury County sheriff's deputy and two Sumner County teens died in traffic accidents overnight.

WSMV-TV says 42 year-old deputy Darrell Perritt was killed when his cruiser crashed on Clara Mathis Road in Spring Hill

Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland says Perritt leaves behind three children - ages 11, 17 and 21 - and a wife of 22 years.

According to the sheriff's office, Perritt was rushing to back up another officer when his car left the roadway.

Also last night, two Sumner County teens were killed and two others injured when their car turned in front of a tractor trailer near Old State Highway 109.

The two surviving teens were flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter. The truck’s driver wasn’t injured.

All four teens were members of the bowling team at Portland High.

Both accidents are still under investigation.
