Mid-state man arrested after explosive prank at theater

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Nashville man has been charged with pulling off what police considered an explosive — and not terribly funny — prank outside a movie theater.

The Tennessean reported (http://tnne.ws/1rqe9Rl ) that officers arrested 35-year-old Sean M. Pounds after he spread a chemical compound on the ground outside the theater Monday night. Officers say the compound made a loud popping sound when people walked over it.

Officers say Pounds admitted to making the compound at his home and that he planned to stay close by and watch people react to the loud pops.

Pounds told the officers he had done the same thing at Vanderbilt University earlier in the year. He said he didn't know he was breaking the law.

Jail records did not list an attorney for Pounds.
