MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Middle Tennessee forward Reggie Upshaw will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist.

School officials said Wednesday in a university release that Upshaw experienced "slight pains" during postseason play. According to the release, the pain returned the last couple of weeks and an MRI on Friday revealed a torn ligament.

The release said Upshaw should be available for the start of the regular season. School officials expect Upshaw to be ready to return to running and conditioning six weeks after surgery. They added that Upshaw could be cleared for non-contact basketball activities in about 90 days.

Upshaw averaged 13.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this past season. He scored a team-high 21 points in Middle Tennessee's NCAA Tournament upset of Michigan State.
