Million Dollar Mid-State Fugitive Found in North Carolina

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A man who skipped out on a million dollar bond on charges of Rape and Rape of a Child has been found living under an assumed name in North Carolina.

Stephen Eugene Beck was on Tennessee’s Top Ten Most Wanted list. Beck was arrested in 2011 on 14 counts of Rape, and 6 counts of Child Rape in Wilson County, along with 3 counts of Child Rape in Rutherford County.

He was free on more than a million dollars in bonds out of Wilson and Rutherford Counties when he failed to make a court appearance in July, 2011.

Police say the two-and-a-half year search for Beck involved hundreds of tips, and thousands of leads across 17 states. The U.S. Marshal Service eventually found Beck living in Wilmington, North Carolina under an assumed name using fake documents.

Stephen Beck faces local drug charges in North Carolina and eventual extradition back to Tennessee.
