NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A judge has dismissed a trespassing charge brought against a Nashville Scene reporter by Rep. Jeremy Durham.
The Franklin Republican was the subject of a state attorney general's investigation that detailed allegations of sexual interactions with 22 women at the Legislature. Durham denied most of the allegations, but suspended his re-election campaign and was soundly defeated in the Republican primary this month.
Reporter Cari Wade Gervin had gone to Durham's house in May to ask him questions about his campaign spending.
The paper said the lawmaker screamed at Gervin and tried to grab her cellphone. Durham said Gervin tried to enter his home despite demands that she leave.
Scene editor Steve Cavendish said in a statement that he was pleased that "unfounded charges against our reporter got thrown out."
