More Evidence Mid-State Job Market is HOT

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The employment division of Goodwill Industries, Goodwill Career Solutions, says it placed a record number of mid-state residents in jobs over the summer.

Goodwill says it placed 565 people in jobs in August and 419 found work in July.

Murfreesboro resident Latricia McGee recently found work in auto assembly in Smyrna after attending a Goodwill job fair. McGee says she lost her last job way back in 2008, and the years since have been a challenge.

“It was difficult to find a job. I have a young son that I’m raising, and it was difficult for us to live almost day-to-day and week-to-week not having our needs met because I was unemployed.”

McGee’s been back to work for six months and recently enrolled in college to work toward a bachelor’s degree.

Goodwill has expanded the number of job fairs it hosts each month. The organization is hosting job fairs in Murfreesboro, Lewisburg, Berry Hill and Gallatin Wednesday and still more events later in the week.
