COLUMBIA, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  Maury County Schools is sending still more students home to continue learning remotely.

On Tuesday, the system closed four school buildings, including an elementary, two middle schools and one high school.

Administrators say more than 480 students at 23 of the system’s 24 schools are currently in isolation.

New cases of COVID-19 have more than doubled in the county over the past month. The number of school age children testing virus positive jumped 39 percent in the past week alone.

Maury County saw its first school closure mid-September, just five weeks after classes began.
