More trouble for Ru-Co Sheriff Robert Arnold

TBI

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold’s problems are starting to multiply.

Local media revealed last week that Arnold’s relatives and his Chief Deputy held an exclusive contract to sell cigarettes and snacks at the jail Arnold administers.

At least two other jail contracts have also now been called into question.

This week it was learned that state auditors and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are taking a look at the sheriff’s financial dealings.

Now a county commissioner has come forward to suggest Arnold resign. WSMV reports Commissioner Michael Kusch as saying the situation is an embarrassment to the county.

Thursday, several residents filed complaints against Arnold with the Ethics Committee of the Rutherford County Commission.

After the initial questions were raised, Arnold told reporters he’d done nothing wrong but would look into the contracts questioned.
