MPD: Manchester man faces kidnaping, sexual battery and assault charges

MPD

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Manchester man is facing charges of Kidnaping, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Assault, and Burglary after police say he attacked a Murfreesboro motel clerk.

Police were called Sunday to the Vista Inn at the intersection of Church St. and Interstate 24. The female clerk on duty there told them she’d been attacked by 27-year-old Manchester resident Shawn W. Jones.

The police incident report says Jones came into the motel and made a lewd comment to the clerk. She retreated into the front office and locked the door. But she left her keys on the front desk and Jones was able to enter the office. He then reportedly pushed the clerk to the floor and assaulted her.

Police say a second man arrived on the scene, interrupted the attack and held Jones until police arrived.

Jones is being held on $100,000 bond in the Rutherford County Jail. He’s set to make an initial appearance in Rutherford County General Sessions Court at the end of October.
