A new venue and an added twist to the event name means the MTSU Office of Alumni Relations annual Pigskin Pre-Game Stockyard Party will be hosted Saturday, Aug. 17, in Coach Rick Stockstill’s “backyard.”
Normally held off campus, this year’s event will take place in Floyd Stadium, home of Stockstill’s Blue Raiders, who will embark on their first season in Conference USA. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the formal program will start at 7 o’clock.
All proceeds of this event benefit the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, which is awarded to children or grandchildren of MTSU alumni, said Paul Wydra, assistant director in Alumni Relations.
Wydra added that the Alumni Association makes the event a kickoff to the Blue Raiders’ football season, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, against Western Carolina in Floyd Stadium.
“We also tie it in to a kickoff for another great Blue Raider football season,” Wydra said. “With all the excitement surrounding our move to C-USA, the Alumni Association felt that the stadium would be a fantastic location to hold this event. We think this will also be a great family event.”
Tickets for the event will be $30 for adults, with children 12 and under free. Attendees must prepay and RSVP by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, to secure tickets, which will include food, soft drinks and door prizes. There will be no alcohol at this year’s event.
Tours of the stadium and a meet-and-greet with coaches and players will be part of attendees’ activities.
Parking will be available in the Greenland Drive lot. Entrance to the stadium will be through Gate 2.
