MUFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  There are few details available but a report out yesterday says a sexual discrimination complaint is being investigated by Middle Tennessee State University against the school’s athletics department.

The Daily News Journal reports the investigation has been confirmed by Athletic Director Chris Massaro and by the MTSU Institutional Equity and Compliance Office.

MTSU Title IX officer Marian Wilson tells the newspaper that claims of sexual discrimination have been made and will be investigated by the Equity Office in compliance with federal law.

Massaro says he won’t be commenting on the investigation, but Associate Athletics Director Diane Turnham told the paper that someone had made what she described as “extreme allegations” against the department.

The person or persons making the complaint and the nature of the complaint have not been disclosed.
