MURFREESBORO, Tenn (WMOT)  --  The College of Mass Communication at MTSU celebrated the opening of its Center for Innovation in Media Thursday afternoon. The Center combines all of the University's media outlets - both student led and professional - under a single roof.

WMOT Radio is just one of several MTSU media outlets included in Center operations. WMOT's new media partners include Sidelines newspaper, MT10 television, MT Records record label, and WMTS Radio.

Dr. Stephan Foust heads the new facility. He says the Center will provide students with the opportunity to learn how to tell a story in several different media, a skill increasingly important to media outlets.

“They want people, in the industry today, who essentially have more than one tool in their tool belts. It’s not good enough just to be walkin’ around with a ball-peen hammer or a Phillips screwdriver . You’ve gotta’ have all of it.”

The Center for Innovation in Media was open for tours Thursday and special opening ceremonies included speeches by MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee, former NBC News Anchor John Seigenthaler Jr., College of Mass Communication Dean Roy Moore, and WMOT Station Manager Henri Pensis.
