MTSU On the Record Enters Minds of Exercisers Through Professor’s New Book

The next edition of the “MTSU On the Record” radio program examines the psychological roadblocks that prevent us from becoming physically fit.

Host Gina Logue’s interview with Dr. Mark Anshel, a professor of exercise science, will air from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2, on WMOT-FM (89.5 and ww.wmot.org).

Anshel is the author of “Applied Health Fitness Psychology,” a college-level textbook with suggested activities designed to help students make the connection between theory and practice.

“We are probably the most self-destructive culture in the world,” Anshel said. “You might say, ‘Well, aren’t they starving overseas?’ Well, many countries, yes, they are starving. But they don’t have a choice. They don’t have what we have in the way of food and nutrition and hospitalization and medical facilities, etc.”
