MTSU student beaten by several men, suffers a broken jaw

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A student at Middle Tennessee State University is recovering from a broken jaw and broken nose after being assaulted by several men last night.

Murfreesboro Police say that 21 year-old Alexander T. Dave reported being attacked by several black males near the old hospital in Murfreesboro just after dark Wednesday evening.

Dave says he had just left a friend's apartment near the MTSU campus when he was attacked. He suffered a broken jaw, broken nose, cuts to the face and a loosened tooth as a result of the beating.

He was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford County Hospital for treatment. There’s no word yet on his condition.

Dave tells police that he wasn’t robbed and the men didn't threaten him with a weapon.

The case has been turned over to MPD detectives for investigation.
