MTSU student Injured During Armed Robbery

MURFREESBORO -- A Middle Tennessee State University student was injured Tuesday night on campus during an armed robbery.

MTSU issued an emergency alert at 8:48 Tuesday evening saying that a robbery had taken place outside Scarlett Commons. It was later learned the robbery actually took place inside one of the apartments.

A few minutes later a second alert was issued describing the robbery suspect as a white male in his early 20s, standing 5'6" - 5'8" tall, and weighing approximately 150 lbs. MTSU Police say the suspect was described as having blond shoulder length hair and a full goatee. He was wearing blue jeans and a hoodie, carrying a black backpack and armed with a silver colored handgun.

The gunman reportedly pistol whipped the student with the weapon. A university spokesman says the injuries were not especially serious, but a head wound reportedly did require stitches.

In their most recent statement about the incident, MTSU police say they don’t currently have a suspect and are urging anyone with information about the robbery to call 898-2424.
