MTSU student reports attempted rape at Murf. apartment

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A 21-year-old student at Middle Tennessee State University tells police she fought off an attempted rape earlier this week.

The MTSU senior Health Sciences major says she was watching TV with a male friend in her room at The Point apartments Monday night. She reports falling asleep at around 10 p.m., then waking up some time later to find the friend lying on top of her and sexually assaulting her.

The student says she told the man to stop but he escalated his attack instead. The young woman says she then began to push and kick her attacker. After a brief struggle the man rolled off of her, but reportedly continued the assault.

The woman’s alleged attacker also appears to be a student at MTSU, but WMOT hasn’t been able to confirm his identity.

It doesn’t appear any charges have been filed or arrests made in the case.
