MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) --  A student at Middle Tennessee State University tells police she was sexually assaulted.

Murfreesboro Police say they were called to an apartment on North Rutherford Blvd. on the southeast edge of campus Tuesday afternoon in response to an incident that apparently took place late Sunday night.

The victim told police that she was studying with a friend until nearly midnight. When they finished she says a man who lives in an apartment in the next building invited her to his room to talk.

However, the 18 year-old woman tells police that once in the bedroom the man began to fondle her and then pinned her face down on the bed.

The report states he then pushed her to the floor and pulled down her pants. The man then removed his own pants and attempted to rape her.

The victim told police he wasn’t successful but did leave DNA evidence behind. Detectives were called to collect the evidence.

The student was able to provide police with her alleged attackers name, but no arrests have been made or charges filed in the case.
