MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A Murfreesboro man was shot and killed in the early hours of Wednesday morning and police believe they have the shooter in custody.
The MPD has arrested 59-year-old Northfield Blvd resident Dewey Abbott III, charging him with First Degree Murder.
Police say Abbott shot 40-year-old Jesse Sliepenbeek just after 1 a.m. at an apartment on Northfield. Officers arriving on the scene rendered first aid before Sliepenbeek was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he later died of a single gunshot wound.
Abbott is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Correction Facility without bond.
