Murf man killed Sunday, suspect in custody

RCSO

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Police say a Murfreesboro man was shot and killed yesterday afternoon during an altercation on Wenlon Drive.

Police were called to the apartment building at 1215 Wenlon just before 3 p.m. in response to shots fired.

WKRN-TV reports police saying that 19-year-old Dejuanuta Stegall of Nashville shot Willie David Jr. after David argued with a third, unnamed person.

David was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later died.

Stegall reportedly ran from the scene but was arrested a short time later. He was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a charge of Second Degree Homicide.

Murfreesboro Police say David was also the target of a shooting very near the same address on Wenlon Dr. last Tuesday. The MPD says at that time David refused to cooperate with them, even declining to provide his name.
