MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Murfreesboro resident says two men tried to rob him Tuesday night, then shot at him when he ran.

Willowbrook Drive resident Robert Mays tells police he was walking in his apartment complex parking lot when he was confronted by two men wearing all black.

He says the men demanded his wallet at gunpoint. Mays says rather than comply he ran and hid between cars. He says several shots were fired as he ran away. Police later recovered three shell casings and found bullet holes in a nearby building.

The 25-year-old Mays described his attackers as two black males, both roughly six feet tall, with one being light-skinned and the other with shoulder length dreads. Both were said to be carrying handguns.

Police note that they found a baggie of marijuana on the sidewalk in the area where the incident took place.

If you have any information about the attempted robbery of Robert Mays, call Murfreesboro Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP. That’s 615-893-7867.
