MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- An update now on that altercation that left a Murfreesboro man shot in the face.
A police arrest report out today reveals that the fifth and final suspect arrested in that case made contact with police through a third party and ultimately surrendered at a local church.
Police were called to the corner of Lokey Ave. and Christy Ct. just before 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. They discovered Murfreesboro resident Darryl Rouse with a gunshot wound to the face.
Within hours police arrested four suspects in the case. They included Deante Lawrence, Devonte Lawrence, and Lamonte Johnson all 20 years of age, along with 18 year-old Walshaude Vaughter.
The next morning police arrested 18 year-old Kourtland Johnson of 720 E. Castle Street. All five were charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery. Vaughter and Kourtland Johnson were also charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.
A police report released this morning reveals that an unnamed Murfreesboro resident contacted police and arranged for Kourtland Johnson to surrender.
Johnson told police he was worried about how he would be treated and asked that he be allowed to surrender to an officer he trusted.
The officer met Johnson at the First Baptist Church on E. Castle St. He was questioned and then arrested.
Kourtland Johnson is being held on $800,000 bond.
