MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The personal finance website Wallethub.com has named Murfreesboro one of the best college towns in the nation.

Home to Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro was ranked 49th and was the only college town in the state to make the list.

The study measured several criteria, including safety, affordability, housing costs, and amenities.

Wallethub’s Jill Gozalez says Murfreesboro had the sixth lowest cost of living score for a college town. She says Murfreesboro also offers some of the highest entry level salaries for students once they graduate.

“That’s really great for people who have maybe have internships while they’re in school getting their degree, that they can transition those internships – or any work experience – into sticking around and getting a really great job in Murfreesboro.”

Gozalez says Murfreesboro did not score well on accessibility, saying the city needs to look at providing better options for walking, biking and public transportation.
