MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Murfreesboro Police are reporting an arrest in a parking lot confrontation that could have turned deadly.
Police say they were called to the Rutherford Blvd. Walmart Tuesday evening. Murfreesboro resident Jason Hill told officers a woman he exchanged words with threatened him with a gun.
The police incident report states that Hill yelled at a driver to slow down. Hill said the woman was speeding in the parking lot and had narrowly missed striking his son.
Hill and a witness told police that the driver, later identified as 37 year old Angela Scruggs, stopped and exchanged words with Hill before pointing a pistol at him.
Police caught up with Scruggs at the intersection of Rutherford and South Church a short while later and arrested her on a charge of Aggravated Assault.
Police say Scruggs indicated she felt threatened by Hill, retrieved the pistol and laid it on her lap, but did not point it at him.
A 22 caliber pistol was found under the passenger seat of Scrugg’s vehicle and was taken into evidence.
