Murf. Police investigating crash, motorcyclist seriously injured

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro Police have released new details about a vehicle crash  at the intersection of New Salem Highway and Warrior Drive that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

Police say the crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Wednesday evening and involved a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Christiana resident Benjamin Brooks, wasn’t injured. However, the motorcyclist, 27-year-old Murfreesboro resident Patrick Borum, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

A police incident report notes that shortly before crash the department received reports of a motorcyclist driving recklessly in the area. A patrol officer found Borum in a parking lot nearby and warned him about driving recklessly. Borum reportedly denied being the rider involved.

Police say just two minutes after the patrol officer left Borum, he was involved in the crash with Brooks.

Murfreesboro Police say they are continuing their investigation. No word today on Patrick Borum’s condition.
