Murf. Police report Thursday afternoon shooting victim has died

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro Police say an as yet unidentified man shot several times Thursday afternoon has died.

Just before 3 p.m. the MPD released a statement saying that a shooting had taken place an hour earlier at the Student Quarters Apartments on Greenland Drive near Middle Tennessee State University.

Police say that when officers arrived on the scene they found one person who had been shot several times. The victim was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.  Just after 4 p.m. police released a second statement saying the victim had died.

No details about the victim have been released.

Officials did release a description of the suspected shooter. They say witnesses described him as a black male standing six feet tall with a thin build and short hair. The suspect was reportedly wearing khaki pants with a white shirt and black coat.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP(7867).
