Murf. woman accused of self-abortion in court this week

RCSO

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The Murfreesboro woman accused of attempting to self-abort her unborn son with a coat hanger is asking that the charges against her be dropped.

Thirty-two-year-old Anna Yocca appeared in court Tuesday.

WTVF reports Yocca was arrested in December after she showed up at a hospital bleeding heavily.

Police say her child suffered damage to his eyes, lungs and heart as a result of the botched abortion.

Her attorney argues the law prosecutors used to charge her doesn’t apply. The judge asked both sides to present written responses to the motion.

The baby boy Yocca gave birth to has been adopted and is living out of state.
