Name of Murf. man who died after being struck by a dump truck released

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.  (WMOT)  Police have now released the name of the man who died yesterday following multi-car pileup on Memorial Blvd that tied traffic up traffic in North Murfreesboro for hours yesterday.

Police say 71-year-old Shelly St. resident William Hall was taken from the crash scene to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital by EMS and pronounced dead soon after arriving in the ER.

Police responded to the accident at the intersection of Memorial Blvd. and Airport Rd. yesterday at noon. The incident report says a dump truck owned by Melton’s Construction and being driven by Mark Melton rear-ended Halls pickup truck as he sat at the intersection.

Three other vehicles at the intersection were also involved.  Two of those drivers sustained minor inuries.

Photos from the scene show the dump truck sitting on top of Hall’s pickup. The pickup’s bed was pushed forward and partially crushed the cab.

The dump truck driver was not hurt. No charges have been filed at this point.  Police say their investigation continues.
