Nashville Ballet & Belmont University Partner for Free Ballet Performance

On Saturday, September 20, Nashville Ballet and the Belmont University School of Music will host a FREE performance of Ferdinand the Bull, a children’s ballet from Nashville Ballet’s Outreach & Education program. The performance takes place at Belmont University’s Massey Performing Arts Center at 2:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public, but guests are encouraged to pre-register, as seating is limited. FREE tickets can be reserved in advance at www.NashvilleBallet.com/Ferdinand.

This unique collaboration between Nashville Ballet and the Belmont University School of Music was made possible by a Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission (MNAC) Creation Grant.

Through original choreography, music and bright, colorful costumes inspired by cubist Pablo Picasso, Ferdinand the Bull tells the story of a peaceful bull who only wants to smell the flowers in the meadow, making him unfit for the bullfighting rings in Spain, as told by Munro Leaf in his classic children’s book.

This performance is FREE, open to the public and appropriate for all ages. It will also include a short interactive, educational program following the ballet aimed at getting guests up and moving as well as teaching them about ballet.
