New controversy embroils Williamson County School Board

Williamson County Schools

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A new controversy has overtaken the Williamson County School Board as four incumbent members are targeted by an anonymous resolution.

The Tenneseean reports retired teacher Audrey Buffington read out the resolution last night. It charges board members’ Bobby Hullett, Anne McGraw, Rick Wimberly and Gary Anderson with violating board policy by accepting political endorsements for an upcoming election.

The Williamson Business PAC and WillCo Rising PAC recently endorsed the four incumbents in an election set for August 4.

The system’s code of ethics says board members should represent "the entire school community and refuse to represent special interests."

In recent years, the Williamson County School Board has frequently been embroiled in controversy with conservative and moderate members squabbling with each other and with Superintendent Mike Looney.
