New Director for Rutherford County Schools

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) —  Rutherford County Schools have a new director elect.

The county Board of Education unanimously chose Don Odom Monday night to replace current director Harry Gill. Odom previously served as the district’s assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

A school system press statement said Odom is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and has spent his entire career with Rutherford County Schools. Odom earned his bachelor’s and graduate degrees from Middle Tennessee State University.

The Board of Education still has to negotiate a contract with Odom to finalize his selection. Gill will retire in late June after heading the system for nine years.
