MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WALTERS) -- Football fans are pumped about today’s launch of the college football season. The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders kick off their season Thursday evening with a home game against Western Carolina.
The team has anticipated this day since last November when the Blue Raiders finished 8 and 4, but received a bowl snub and were not able to play in the post season.
Hard work throughout the winter and spring brings the team to an opening night game against the Catamounts of Western Carolina.
Middle Tennessee is ranked third in the Eastern Division of their new conference, Conference USA, while the Catamounts are ranked seventh in the Southern Division. The Cats are coming off a 1 and 10 year last season.
The Raiders will be led by fifth year senior Logan Kilgore and sophomore running back Jordan Parker. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. Blue Raider network coverage begins at 5:30 p.m.
