Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at MTSU Today

Today at 4:45 p.m., there will be a partial eclipse of the sun that is visible from Murfreesboro. The MTSU Astronomy club and the Department of Physics and Astronomy will be setting up telescopes at the MTSU observatory. The eclipse will be visible until sunset. The event is open to the public and all are welcome.

If you decide to try to observe the eclipse yourself, please use the eye protection. Looking directly at the sun can cause blindness, even during a solar eclipse. As NASA states on the website, "Do not attempt to view any solar eclipse with the naked eye.   Failure to use appropriate filtration may result in eye damage or blindness!"
