Police Investigating Murfreesboro's 7th Homicide in 5 Months

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Just five months into 2014, Murfreesboro Police are investigating the city’s seventh homicide, more than twice the number of murders in all of last year.

On Monday, construction workers discovered a body in Lytle Creek just off Main Street. Police now say they’re investigating that death as a homicide, after an autopsy turned up evidence of foul play.

Police say they believe they now know the victim’s identity, but won’t release that name until next of kin have been notified.

Police are asking for your help solving this latest murder. If you noticed anything out of the ordinary along Main Street near the railroad tracks this past weekend, call CrimeStoppers at 893-STOP. That’s 893-7867.
