MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Two men remain in the Williamson County jail today after Franklin police say they swallowed more than 50 balloons of heroine.

Officers set up surveillance Monday in the parking lot of a Cool Springs business following on an anonymous tip about drug activity. Police say they saw two men acting suspiciously and took them into custody.

Once back at Police Headquarters, investigators became concerned that the suspects, 20-year-old Christian Serrano and 32-year-old Muaricio Angel, swallowed heroin to hide it from officers.  An ambulance was called and the pair were taken to Williamson Medical Center.

A press release says that “Officers later recovered more than 50 balloons, swallowed by the subjects, containing heroin.”

After the two men were released from the hospital, they were booked into the Williamson County Jail and will appear in court next Thursday.
