Pres. Obama coming to Tennessee again this week

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Obama is scheduled to visit East Tennessee this week, his second visit to the state in a month.

The White House says the President, Vice President Joe Biden, and Biden’s wife, Jill, will appear at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville Friday to announce a new education initiative.

The federal initiative to be announced will, as the press statement words it, “help more Americans go to college and get the skills they need to succeed.”

The President will also visit a company called Techmer PM in Clinton just north of Knoxville to highlight the creation of manufacturing jobs.

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam was in Washington in early December for a White House summit on education.  While there, White House officials lauded the governor’s new Tennessee Promise education initiative.

Back in December, the president was in Nashville to promote controversial changes to the nation’s immigration policy.
