EL PASO, Tex (Chip Walters)  --  Middle Tennessee State’s  men's and women's teams both captured their regular season championships in their first year in Conference USA.  This week they begin a March Madness quest for league tournament titles.

Both the men’s and women’s C-USA championships begin today in El Paso, Texas, but because they finished in the top four in the standings both the Middle Tennessee men and women received a double-by to the tournament quarter-finals on Thursday.

Neither will know who their opponent will be until the end of the day on Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders go into the event as top seed and ranked 22nd in the latest national polls. Blue Raider Ebony Rowe was selected Player of the Year in Conference-USA, while Olivia Jones was named Freshmen of the Year.

On the men’s side, the Blue Raiders are the number three-seed in the tournament, after finishing in a three way logjam for the regular season title. Middle will be led by first team, all-conference selection Shaun Jones.

As always you can hear Thursday's games right here on WMOT. The women hit the court at noon, the men tip off at 3:30 p.m.
