A CD featuring the work of the Middle Tennessee State University School of Music Wind Ensemble was recently released by the Naxos recording label.

Headquartered in nearby Franklin, Tennessee, Naxos is now the world’s largest distributor of classical recordings.

MTSU's Dr. Reed Thomas directed the 55-member ensemble, made up primarily of undergraduate MTSU students. He said the CD,entitled "Angels in the Architecture" has been so well-recieved that Naxos is asking when the school of music will have another recording ready to distribute.

The new album was also recorded and mastered on campus, at the College of Mass Communication, by Recording Industry Department professor Michael Fleming.

MTSU held a press conference Wednesday to congratulate the Wind Ensemble and the School of Music on the CD's success.

School officials took the opportunity announce a new marketing initiative designed to make Middle Tennesseans more aware of the university's artistic offerings. A school spokesman noted that MTSU offers more than 200 arts performances each year, most of which are free and open to the public.

You can find the CD “Angels in the Architecture" on Amazon.com and Naxos.com.
