Region's Summer Music Festival Season Already Heating Up

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Summer is still a long way off, but the region’s music festival scene is heating up with one mid-state festival already sold out.

The Country Music Association says its June festival concerts at LP Field are sold out, even though the final lineup for the shows hasn’t yet been announced.

Last week the late the June lineup for ROMP the Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival in Owensboro, Kentucky was announced. Headliners will include Ricky Skaggs, Sam Bush and Del McCoury.

This evening the Bonnaroo Music Festival is set to announce its lineup for this summer. The mid-June festival held in Coffee County has already sold out the least expensive of five ticket levels.

Together, the three festivals pump tens of millions of dollars into the regional economy. More than 70,000 people attended Bonnaroo last year, 80,000 attended the CMA festival, and more than 20 thousand attended ROMP this past summer.
