Report on GOP health care plan deepens concern in Tenn. medical community

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Tennessee’s hospitals were worried about the Republican plan to replace Obamacare even before yesterday’s report from the Congressional Budget Office.

That report says the proposed plan could leave  some 24 million Americans health coverage within ten years.

Craig Becker with the Tennessee Hospital Association says if even half that number proves accurate it will be a devastating for Tennessee hospitals, especially rural facilities.

“Instead of totally replace Obamacare, or at least watch it crash and burn, that it should be repaired. And in conversations with the Senate I think that’s more where they’re going as opposed to doing this wholesale replacement.”

Becker says conversations with Tennessee Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander suggest they - and their Senate colleagues - will take a more measured approach to health care reform.
