Riverdale football coach attacked by student, seriously injured

MURFREESBORO. Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A well-known football coach is being treated at a mid-state hospital after school officials say he was attacked by a student.

The Daily News Journal quotes Rutherford County Schools spokesman James Evans saying Riverdale coach Ron Aydelott was taken to St. Thomas Hospital following the assault.

WTVF-TV quotes the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office saying that a 17-year-old student has been arrested in connection with the attack and charged with Aggravated Assault. The student's name is not being released because he is a minor. The station described Aydelott's injuries as serious.
