MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- State Senator Bill Ketron of Murfreesboro says he’s now cancer free.
In an interview with the Daily News Journal Ketron says he expects to be recovered enough to attend the football game between his alma mater Middle Tennessee State and Vanderbilt on October 3.
Ketron announced late last year that he was under treatment for Type B non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
The Senator tells the newspaper an initial round of chemotherapy failed to eliminate the cancer so he’s spent the last several weeks having his stem cells transplanted into his bone marrow.
Ketron is now in isolation at home waiting for his immune system to recover.
In spite of the illness Ketron says he’s working the phones, continuing his role in the State Senate as the Republican Caucus Chairman.
The Senator says he expects to be fully recovered by the time the Tennessee General Assembly convenes in January.
