NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A sentencing hearing for two former Vanderbilt players who were convicted of raping a fellow student has been delayed until June.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1FcslqM) reports Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey will remain behind bars until the June 15 hearing.
Court officials said the April sentencing date was postponed so that lawyers could review trial transcripts.
A jury convicted the men on Jan. 27 of aggravated rape and aggravated sexual battery in the attack in a campus dorm. The attack was captured on video and the case captured national attention.
The men are facing the possibility of decades in prison.
The recently released Tennessee Crime on Campus report revealed that Vanderbilt University had Middle Tennessee’s highest rate of on-campus sex related crimes in 2014. The school accounted for 22 of the 89 incidents reported state-wide.
