Murfreesboro, TN – WMOT's Jacobs receives AP awards
by Tom Tozer and Angela Hayes
WMOT-FM news producer Shawn Jacobs recently received two Honorable Mention Associated Press awards in a statewide AP broadcasters' competition.
The Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters Association's radio news competition was the name of the event in which Jacobs received the awards.
His awards were in the large market category for work aired in 2002.
Jacobs said that he was notified about the honors recently, and while the awards were for his work in 2002, the awards were actually designated awards for 2003.
He was recognized in the category of Individual Sound Excellence for a profile of jazz saxophonist Mark Douthit. His other award was for a news package on the methamphetamine epidemic in rural Middle Tennessee, and that award was in the Enterprise category.
Both segments aired nationally on AP News Network. Jacobs has been with WMOT for 19 years.
