Sheriff Robert Arnold pleads the 5th in ouster suit

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Jailed Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold is refusing to participate in his own defense against a lawsuit seeking to oust him from office.

WSMV-TV reports that Arnold’s attorney, Thomas Dundon has filed a response to an ouster suit brought against the Sheriff by a group of county residents.

In court filings, Dundon says Arnold is invoking his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself.

Dundon is asking the presiding judge to dismiss or delay the suit until a federal case against the Sheriff is resolved.

That trial is scheduled for February.
