Shoplifter pulls a Houdini on Murfreesboro Police

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A routine shoplifting call turned into quite a tussle for a couple of Murfreesboro police officers overnight.

Police say they were called to the Old Fort Parkway Walmart just after midnight regarding possible shoplifting. When they arrived an employee pointed out two me, believed to be hiding merchandise in their clothing.

A pair of MPD officers confronted the two men in the store’s bathroom and say they were carrying merchandise that hadn’t been paid for.  When officers tried to place them under arrest one of the men tried to escape and a wrestling match began.

After the two men were finally put in restraints, the arrest report says one of them managed to slip his handcuffs and a second struggle ensued.

Arrested were 19-year-old Bobby H. Durham of Smyrna and 20-year-old Samuel M. Crini of Murfreesboro. Both men were charged with Theft, Resisting Arrest and Underage Consumption.

They were booked into the Rutherford County Jail on $4500 bond.
