MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Siegel High School football player underwent emergency brain surgery over the weekend after being injured in Friday night’s game against Warren County.

The Daily News Journal reports junior cornerback Baylor Bramble was rushed into surgery early Saturday morning to relieve pressure on his brain.

Coach Greg Wyant told the newspaper that during the final quarter of the game Bramble told him he had a bad headache. A trainer checked the boy out and an ambulance was called soon after.

A prayer vigil for Bramble was held Saturday afternoon at the High School. At the last update, he was listed in critical condition.

It’s been a difficult school year for Siegel. Just last month a member of the football team died following a gunshot to the head. A Siegel middle school football player is currently undergoing rehabilitation after a head injury.
